Film Review: “Galaxy of Terror” (1981)

The list of names that worked on this sci-fi slasher is impressive. Roger Corman, James Cameron, Robert Englund, Sid Haig, & Grace Zabriskie. Now, my question is, how come it wasn’t amazing? Most of the effects were neat, but the overall story and dialogue were severely lacking. It felt like an unfocused, watered down version of “Aliens.” (I’m looking at you James Cameron!) It was fun to see Robert Englund in a pre-Freddy Krueger good guy role, and the overall look of the film was pleasing, other than that, it’s forgettable. I was expecting much better.
