Film Reviews: “Christine” (1983)

As a Stephen King and John Carpenter fan, I should have watched this film a long time ago. The idea of a haunted car never really appealed to me, but at first frame when I heard George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone” chime in, I knew this was going to be great, and it was! Wow, what an awesome film! The writing and directing are strong here. The car is ominous and spooky as it creeps around looking for victims, whilst bellowing classic tunes from the 1950’s. I enjoyed watching the wimp Arnie slowly turn into a foul mouthed bad ass. He’s played so well that you can almost root for him. This film is longer than average at 1 hour and 50 min long, and not a single frame is wasted. I highly recommend this, even if you think that “cars are boring.” Just don’t let Christine the 1958 Plymouth Fury, hear you say that.

3.5 out of 4.0 stars.
