Film Reviews: “Hellraiser: Revelations” (2011)

Hellraiser 9 is not a “great” movie, but it’s not terrible either. I’m not going to hate on it and here’s why: It isn’t a remake, it isn’t a prequel, it isn’t in 3D, and there’s no CGI graphics- the effects are done very old school! On the other hand, Pinhead, for the first time ever, is played by someone other than Doug Bradley. It just doesn’t feel right, but at least the character’s screen time is kept to a minimum. Most of the film rests on actor Nick Eversman’s shoulders and surprisingly, he is fantastic! Nick plays Steven, a teen who went missing for several months to suddenly return home, out of his mind, covered in blood and with the puzzle box. Steven’s friend Nico is missing too, but he hasn’t returned. Both teens’ parents gather at Steven’s house and try to figure out what happened…. Overall I enjoyed it. There’s a nice twist that I didn’t see coming. It’s no classic, but it’s not as bad as people say. Check it out.
