Film Reviews: “The Lie” (2011)

Image

Directed by and starring Joshua Leonard.

Lonnie is a 30-something who hates his job and isn’t satisfied with his life. He starts lying, stops going to work and avoids his responsibilities. He tells a friend, “I just reached my maximum capacity for pretending like I care.”

With more free time, Lonnie finds himself again, and gains a sense of clarity. Unfortunately to maintain this new freedom he has to keep lying, and tells his boss a very BIG lie.

This was a decent little flick by Joshua Leonard. Pretty straightforward and predictable. Not bad, but not terrific either. Admirable first attempt at directing.

2.0 out of 4.0 stars.
